Proposed changes to car park fees in Lincolnshire 'are fair to everyone'

We live in the marsh, 8 houses along a 2 mile lane and 2.5 miles from our nearest village shop which I visit twice a week on my cycle. Please forgive me when I say in the nicest possible way, stop moaning, your life is what YOU made it!”

“Dear Mr Armyoldsweat-we don't all live on the doorstep of shops. We are both over 60 and fairly fit but have a 2 mile walk with almost 1 mile of that with no footpath -do you suggest we pay £5 to park in Coningsby car park. If this were the case then we would hardly shop there at all. We tend to use the main car park at the rear of the police station and walk to where we need to go. Think before you speak/write next time.”

As a near octogenerian advanced driver with a wheelchair user wife I would suggest East Lindsey impose a £2 minimum street parking fee and £5 across the board charge for all District Council car parks. This would go a long way to make people use their legs more, discourage idleness, keep fit and help eliminate obesity. Most are too idle to walk even a few paces to replace a supermarket shopping trolly.

2nd. While I'm at it...drop a hint to the Government introducing a a Doctors certificate for Road and Pavement tax plus third-party insurance on motorised 'Jolly-trolley' scooterists whose drivers tank up and down pathments like demented teen-agers. 75% don't really need them, just look at the number parked outside shop doorways!”

Some are, Supermarkets various, B and Q, Next and Asda Living and neighbours, The Range, that shop opposite, Dunelm Mill, Argos and those up the top of town on Outer Circle.

Exercise your powers of free will and permanently boycott ALL shops that require you to pay for parking and use only the ones that provide FREE parking.”

“Bad idea! For the high street there needs to be more free car parking. I like shopping in Lincoln, going in actual shops, but trolling round for a car parking space and then paying for the privilege, then having to rush back and put some more money on because i'm taking longer than i thought, makes me shop on line.

If more people could park free more people would shop, shops would make more money in Lincoln rather than internet shops, more tax would be raised, more people employed, in monetary terms more revenue than would be taken from car parking.”
