Pub ban for mum-of-six after attack
A mother-of-six has been banned from a Lincoln pub after she attacked her former husband as he sat by the bar.
Margaret Jowitt (53) shouted and swore at her ex-husband before scratching him in the face.
Jowitt, of Walford Drive, Boultham Moor, Lincoln, entered the Portland Arms at 1.30pm on June 24, city magistrates heard.
She argued with her ex and then the row resulted in a physical fight between the pair, said Marie Stace, prosecuting.
Jowitt admitted behaving in a way that put others in fear of violence.
Rachel Taylor, in mitigation, said her client had been married to the man for 20 years before they separated eight years ago. There had been domestic violence in the marriage against Jowitt, the court heard.
"Since the separation she felt that he had turned the children away from her," said Miss Taylor.
"There are six children from the marriage."
Jowitt has been in trouble with the courts seven times for offences in the past year, magistrates heard.
The court issued an exclusion order banning Jowitt from the pub and gave her 60 hours of unpaid community work. She will pay £100 towards court costs.
