Pupils sing and sign for charity
School children have helped to break the Guinness World Record for the most people signing and singing a song simultaneously.
More than 130,000 pupils, including those from schools in Lincoln, took part in the sign2sing event on Wednesday, February 8, organised by charity SignHealth.
The charity organised the event to raise awareness of deafness.
Although the exact number of pupils is still to be confirmed by Guinness World Records at a later date, hundreds of schools from all over the country and even overseas took part, with groups ranging from 30 to 800 pupils.
The figures that have so far been calculated have topped the previous record of 94,489, which was set by SignHealth in February 2011.
The project was also a fundraiser for the charity through sponsorship from businesses and a voluntary donation of £1 for everyone taking part.
Steve Powell, chief executive for SignHealth, said: "We organise the sign2sing event to help raise awareness of deafness and the work we do at SignHealth.
"It has been a truly fantastic event and we're grateful to everyone who took part. We're hoping the money raised will make a significant contribution to the work of the charity."
