Quarter of council's CCTV cameras not working
Big brother is not watching through almost a quarter of all CCTV cameras operated by a Lincolnshire council.
The Echo understands seven surveillance cameras controlled by West Lindsey District Council are broken and currently not in use.

The authority operates 29 cameras across the district which includes Gainsborough, Market Rasen, Saxilby and Nettleham.
Council officials say repair work on a number of "CCTV issues" is required but they refused to disclose where the broken cameras are located for safety reasons.
All 126 cameras used by City of Lincoln Council and 12 controlled by North Kesteven District Council are currently working.
West Lindsey District Council spokesman Geoff O'Neill said: "We can confirm that seven cameras are not working and we are urgently looking at the best way to deal with a number of CCTV issues throughout West Lindsey."

“I agree with Will - the over population of CCTV cameras can feel intrusive, but if they're not even working, then the council are failing to appropriately maintain the services that cost tax payers to set up and install. 1 or 2 cameras could be put down to ongoing routine maintenance, 7..... that's pure incompetence on behalf of the council.”

“Now this story puts me in a tricky spot. I hate the big brother society, but I also like to know that the items that my tax money pays for actually works! Argh, what to do!?”
