A man hurled racist abuse at a takeaway owner during a night out to celebrate rejoining the RAF.

Richard Gregory, 27, went into Cactus Mexican, in High Street, Lincoln, and asked Mohammed Khobyarpoor if he sold pizzas.

Jim Clare, prosecuting at Lincoln Magistrates' Court, said Mr Khobyarpoor tried to explain that he served only Mexican food.

Mr Khobyarpoor said in his statement that Gregory called him a "dirty Paki".

Mr Khobyarpoor said: "He kept saying to me: 'I'm in the RAF. We don't like Pakis'."

Gregory, of Yarborough Road, Lincoln, admitted racially aggravated threatening behaviour on October 26.

Solicitor Andrew Kerrigan said Gregory had drunk eight pints of lager and several shots and had no recollection of the incident.

"He left the RAF two years ago and was out celebrating, having taken a test to reinstate him to the RAF," said Mr Kerrigan.

"He does not believe himself to hold racist beliefs.

Gregory was fined £150 with a £15 victim surcharge plus £85 costs and £150 compensation.
