RACING driver Jack Harvey is celebrating after passing his driving test.

In June, the Echo reported how the 17-year-old racing driver from Bassingham had successfully passed his driving theory test and was setting his sights on passing his practical and qualifying for his driver's licence.

It was announced yesterday he had successfully passed his practical test.

Jack, who is a competitive racing driver, has spent the summer competing in the European Formula BMW series, where he drives an open-wheeled Formula car.

For the past three months, Jack has been taking lessons in the Lincoln area in between competitions – trading his Formula car for a 1.2 diesel Ford Fiesta.

Jack, who has been driving since he was nine years old, said: "It's definitely a little bit different to being a racing driver.

"Obviously, when I'm racing, I'm on a track and need to go as fast as I can.

"It's surprising though.

"I quite like driving a bit slower and taking everything in."
