A major blaze has broken out a Lincolnshire recycling plant
Lincolnshire fire crews are on the scene, and the A631 has been closed between Caenby Corner and Harpswell Hill roundabout, due to poor visibility from to the smoke. Drivers on the A15 are also being advised to take extra care.
All businesses on the Hewswell estate have been evacuated over fears that nearby gas cylinders could explode.

“Just to add to the comments, I'm at work on the Hemswell Estate and my boss has refused to let us leave. Guess I will be here for a while”

“Just been outside taking photographs, it looks pretty nasty. Seems to be coming from more than one place and flames are still high. Loads of smoke still going really fast. We're watching the wind direction very carefully too!!”

“We live in hemswell village and all we could see at first was black smoke rising into the air. We wondered what it was at first so we went up to the top of the hill and was petrified at what we saw and heard. The gas cylinders are going of very often and we are very worried for our friends who live up there.”

“i live on hemswell cliff, the smoke is bellowing into the sky, there have been sirens going for the past hour or so. thankfully at the moment the wind is carrying the smoke away from our house, i just hope it doesnt turn and blow it at us. the huge bangs ive heard were apparently from the gas canisters. my kids are frightened but im sure all will be fine.”

“Black smoke from burning plastic is roiling into the sky, the sound of occasional exploding LP gas cylinders, can be heard half a mile away. On the positive side, (for most) the wind is blowing the (probably toxic) smoke away from Hemswell Cliff's residential areas otherwise I'd expect to be forced to evacuate.
God be with the fire crews.”
