AN apparent explosion of fly-tipping in East Lindsey has upset district council leader Councillor Doreen Stephenson.

"It's on the increase," she told a meeting of the executive board. "I have seen a glut of discarded fridges in dykes and on roadways."

The leader suspected that reduced opening hours at Lincolnshire County Council's recycling centres may have been a factor and hoped that the situation would improve.

"It costs public money to clear away other people's rubbish," she declared.
