Riders enjoy racing at Lincolnshire Showground
Following the postponement the previous weekend due to the frost, the Burton Point to Point at Lincolnshire Showground was successfully re-scheduled and took place on Sunday.
Thirty runners contested six races and although this was disappointing in terms of numbers, the races were competitive with some exciting finishes.
This was the first Point to Point to be held in the Midlands Area in 2010 and consequently a number of local horses were making their seasonal debut.
Three horses went to post in the Lincolnshire United Hunts Club Member's race.
The seven-year-old grey Roby De Cimbre was sent off the 4-7 favourite and justified these odds by winning easily and defying a 10 pounds penalty for winning three steeplechases under National Hunt rules.
Roby De Cimbre is owned by the Robinson family, from Linwood near Market Rasen.
He is expected to improve from this run and go on to better things.
The second horse, Jackson, although beaten a long way, gave Rowley Barclay a good ride and the veteran Yann's finished third.
Another horse that has reverted to Point to Points following success under National Hunt rules is Great Grimsby who lined up in the FP Watson Ltd Ladies Open race.
Owned and ridden by Samantha Klug, this horse had run well at Cottenham in December where he finished third. On this occasion Great Grimsby went one better, finishing second, only beaten by a neck on the line.
