Members of the public were warned not to approach Bratton, of Scunthorpe, after police launched an appeal to find him.
Bratton called police on August 23 in Skegness and arranged to meet officers who arrested him.
Bratton, who was unrepresented, spoke only to confirm his name during a brief hearing at Lincoln Crown Court.
Judge Sean Morris QC adjourned the case for Bratton to find a solicitor and remanded him back into custody.
Bratton will next appear at Lincoln Crown Court on October 29, when he will be asked to enter a plea to the escape charge.
