WITH the weather taking care of the Stonehaven Residential Home Division One on Monday evening only the second and third divisions were able to fulfil their fixtures.

The leaders Royal Mail took on the Wranglers who had a selection problem.

They had to "dust" down Tony Drury who made an appearance along with Ian Drury and Maurice Young.

Scoring on just five ends for seven shots they fell heavily to Carol Clarke, Stuart Van Beirendonck and Keith Thorlby 32-7.

Meanwhile, Vic Mabbitt, Janet Hippisley and Russ Rousell also scored on a miserly five ends for one shot more and were demolished 37-8 by Joan Sharp, Ken Sharman and Keith Sharp.

The Mail though have to keep picking up maximum points if they want to win the league, as second-placed Freelanders are chasing hard being six points behind with two games in hand.

Matched against Breakaways, Freelanders secured all six with wins of 26-13 and 36-3 for skips Jeff Nicholson and Stan Lawrence.

Stickney, in third spot, were matched against fourth-placed Woodhall and the match saw the latter just have the edge.

For Stickney, Steve Shaw, John Thorold and Ron Flower, 11-1 at 13 ends, went away to win 20-12.

Woodhall's top rink of Doreen Sharp, Alan Eastgate and Eric Ulyatt won the aggregate points when they were successful 23-12.

Stickney and Woodhall are now relying on the top two having a reversal of fortunes to give them a chance of promotion.

Norprint matched against the Golfers saw a good result for the Printers.

Pam Vinter, Alan Townsend and Tony Hall got off to a bad start but recovered well and were successful 21-17.

Barbara Kenny, Margaret Broughton and Barry Barton, 17-4 up at 11 ends, kept up the momentum to win 28-12.

Amateurs' Olive Fenner, Jim Fenner and Mick Greet put on a performance this week that every one expects from them winning 30-11 but even then it was not enough to win Amateurs the aggregate points.

Replying for Boston Park, Janet Pape, Andy Pape and Keith Woods won 39-5.

The Patriarchs versus Stumpers match surprisingly went in favour of the lower team, Patriarchs.

For Stumpers, Sheila Skelton, Norma Barnes and Bernard Skelton just kept their noses in front to win a close game 18-14.

Replying for the Patriarchs, Malcolm Rogers, Ray Woods and Shamus Rooney won by a wide margin, 26-7.

Punchbowlers, who are pushing to be champions, slipped up this week.

Matched against mid-table Central they nearly lost all the points.

Winning well for Central, Iris Facey, Tracy Bembridge and Alan Dunnett won 25-12 which secured four points for the lower team.

The Bowlers' Dave Peacock, Tim White and Jeff Skelton recovered from a 0-12 deficit to scramble home 19-16.

Meanwhile, the Crowns at the top also dropped points.

Matched against Abrasives, who are having their best season for some time, they let two points slip away.

The Crowns' John Adcock, Sandra Copeland and Peter Copeland with a win of 23-12 secured the lion's share of the points.

The Shipmates have started their season "late" and are now putting in some better performances and now have six more points than when they finished last season.

Matched against Traders, skips Brian Sansam and Brian Hunn won 28-7 and 20-14.

Vikings and the Burtons both in the lower regions saw the Vikings finishing the better, taking all six points.

Jenny Holmes, Pete Jacklin and Ron Holmes squeezed home 13-12.

Barbara Moor, Ray Blackamore and Ray Loughran won by a wide margin 22-7.

High-riding Cudas and Harrisons Autos shared the rink points but the Cudas won the additional points.

For the Autos, Margaret Gardner, Janet Barton and Graham Slack won 23-11 thanks to a strong second half performance.

For the Cudas, the dynamic trio of Cyn Bush, Malcolm McNeish and Tony Bush, 16-0 up at six ends, won 39-12.

The Halfpints steadied themselves this week with a good result against the Fairways.

For the Fairways, Chris Gill, Lorna Locking and Carol Nundy won 21-14 against Tina Reeson.
