Ruston lift Jacksons Workwear Rental Charity Cup after extra-time win
Ruston Sports lifted the Jacksons Workwear Rental Charity Cup after a tight battle with Lincoln United was finally decided after extra time.
United opened the scoring after 11 minutes when a goalmouth scramble saw Matt Faulds find the net.
Ruston equalised after 38 minutes when a shot by Tom Bean was knocked in after Adam Woolley had his shot blocked.
United restored their lead before half-time when Matt Jacobs scored after a mazy run.
The second half was a stalemate and it looked like 2-1 would be the final score. But with seconds remaining Bean was brought down in the area and he converted the resultant penalty.
This sent the game into extra time and within three minutes of the restart a shot from Woolley put Ruston into the lead.
With 11 minutes remaining of the second extra-time period, a penalty for Ruston saw Bean complete his hat-trick to complete 4-2 win.
Bean was awarded the man of the match trophy and Ruston captain Lewis Dean received the trophy from Jackson Workwear Rental Managing Director John Wood.
Three out of four league titles are decided.
Trentside Rangers failed to overcome Ruston Sports as they lost out 3-2 which gave the Premier League title to Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
In the North League, Lincoln United won 3-1 at Caythorpe & Fulbeck with goals from Ryan Broxholme (2) and Maty Foulds.
United then had a 5-3 win at Scotter United which sealed the title. The goals which made the title safe came from Tom Booth (2), Jacob Dolan, Matt Kingett and Jon Mattioli.
Boston Town won the South League after the midweek win against Young Dons.
Coningsby & Swineshead Institute had a 4-4 draw, while Billinghay Athletic won the derby against Heckington United with a Rob Rowlett goal giving them a close 1-0 victory.
Young Dons defeated Rushcliffe Eagles 9-3.
The Central League is the only league to be decided but it will be a close finish to see who finally grabs the title.
Metheringham are one of the teams which could win the title and they improved their goal difference at Old Leake with a 9-0 victory.
The other game saw Welton knock 14 in against Greenbank without reply.
