Boston United's latest signing, Ryan Semple, has revealed how a chance meeting with joint-boss Paul Hurst fuelled his switch from Gainsborough Trinity.

The winger has penned a deal with the Pilgrims until the end of the season and is set to make his debut at Durham today (3pm).

Semple insisted he was content with life at Trinity under Blues boss Brian Little, but confessed a desire for regular first-team football was behind his decision to join the UniBond League Premier Division title contenders.

"I was on a UEFA B coaching course with Paul Hurst a couple of weeks ago," explained Semple.

"The course was fairly intense and we ended up spending Monday-Friday, 9-5, with each other.

"Paul asked what my situation at Trinity was and I told him I was happy, but that I hadn't played much since Christmas.

"Boston made an approach to Gainsborough and they let me go. They were really good about it and cancelled my contract so I could sign in time for the Durham game.

"I want to play more games and try and get something fixed up for next season."
