“The opinion nowadays is that pupils have no respect for teachers - wonder why eh? What an insult to teachers who deserve a medal not criticism. They have a huge responsibility with pupils best interests at heart. Whatever a school decides to do will not please all the people all of the time Headteachers can only make a decision on whether to close a school during bad weather based on information available via travel bulletins, bus services running and of course common sense. It's because of a headteachers strong sense of responsibility that most schools have closed and no, I am not a teacher and, thankfully, don't have to encounter such a negative attitude at difficult times. Hopefully Steve is fortunate enough to have a job where actual working hours have some degree of flexibility and if the weather looks a bit dodgy he can pack away his sandwich box and just leave his place of work without having to think about anyone else but himself whatever the time of day. It always best to remember we have two eyes, two ears and one mouth - in that order.”

“I work at a school in Gainsborough, and we opened yesterday when many had closed. As the heavy snow continued to fall however, everyone - children & staff - were worried about how we would end up getting home safetly.
We also over 55 medical snow-related incidents in that morning alone.
Staff still stayed to supervise those children who couldn't get home promptly due to parents' being stranded etc.
So no, it's not a case of us not being bothered about getting in, we do have a genuine care for the welfare of our pupils too.

“Oh great...teacher bashing.
1. My school has been open the last two days. We have been 30%+ down on pupils. 50% of our pupils come on a bus. All buses cancelled today. We have hot dinners brought in...the kitchens are shut (not just a school shut).
2. All staff left school before 4pm last night. Two members of staff took 1hr to do 3 miles. Two took 2 hours 30 to get home and one took 5+ hours. Shall I ask them to jump in their cars at 3am to make sure they get into school in time for the possible 30% of pupils who could get in as they live at walking distance? Gone are the days where pupil and staff live near the school.
3. Yes it is a lot down to H&S but don't blame schools, blame those who claim compensation because they caught a cold!
4. Just because schools get a lot of coverage when they close doesn't mean they are the only places to close. The hospital has cancelled all out patients appointments, some shops are closed as staff can't get in or because its not worth opening. There are NO buses running in Lincoln. My local surgery is shut. Does this not tell you something - this weather is dangerous!
For goodness sake, get over it. If a child was injured coming to school then there would be hundreds of messages going on about why the school opened. Schools do not take the descision lightly. If I could get in I would but I can not even get out of my estate and I am really not prepared to walk 22 miles or ask anyone else to.”

If you knew what you was talking about maybe i would agree but parents are now able to send children to schools of thier choice which means they travel miles to schools each day on funded buses paid for by the council tax payer ,bus firms are tendered to supply these services and the drivers they employ have to go out there in deep snow and take the children to thier destination which can be very hazardous to say the least,as we have to travel on none classified roads where not much traffic uses while you maybe tucked up nice and cosy in bed.
I am not saying the drivers are nervous to drive these things but accidents happen and the driver always gets the blame and i am always worried what might happen if something bad does happen which is beyond my control and i get the blame.No company would put thier business at risk and the drivers would be hung out to dry and take the can.”

Guys, I¿m sure you could arrange this information as such, to make it a lot easier to read; and split it between today, tomorrow and Friday. This would put you ahead of the game and get more hits on your website as it would spread through the social networks like Twitter and Facebook very quickly as people are struggling for a reliable source of information and have easy access to these on their hand-held devices; I can¿t even find either North Kesteven or Robert Pattison schools in here either.”
