DESPITE a mass ticketing spree by traffic wardens in Lincoln, students are continuing to park illegally near the university.

More than 30 cars were parked on double yellow lines in Ruston Way at 3pm yesterday.

Just a day earlier, wardens slapped £30 fines on 60 cars parked on the road after previous warnings failed to stop the law-breakers.

But students remain defiant about flouting the parking regulations and say they will continue to park there.

First year student Sophie Wells (18), of Harby, near Lincoln, said she has no other choice.

"There is nowhere else for us to park. I don't think it causes problems around here. They should make the pavement a bit narrower, then they could have parking bays."
