Ellis Whyler and Sarah Stanhope put in a good performance to help Lincoln Wellington win the Northern League Plate at Stretford, Manchester on Saturday.

Under-17 Whyler won the long jump with a leap of 4.90m and got two second places in the high jump 1.50m and the 100m hurdles 16.25 seconds.

Under 17 Stanhope won the hammer with a throw of 42.01m and earned valuable points for the club in the discus and shot putt.

Lincoln Wellington competed against Rotherham Harriers, Holmfirth Harriers, Leigh Harriers and Bingley Harriers.

The Northern Plate is a senior event, so a lot of the athletes that Stanhope and Whyler compete against are older than them.

Also in the last Lincs League of the season, held at Grantham on Sunday, Stanhope won the under-17 girls discus with a throw of over 27m.

She also came first in the hammer with a throw of 42.85m and fellow club athlete Paige Mitchell came second with a throw over 30m.

Ellis Whyler competed in the shot and came first with a throw of 9.22m.
