AN ethical savings and loan scheme has received praise for opening a branch in Skegness.

Trevor Larder of Lincolnshire Credit Union gave a presentation to Skegness Town Councillors about the scheme which now operates on Wednesdays at The Storehouse from 10am-2pm.

As well as being an ethical savings and loan cooperative, the credit union operates a scheme where landlords pay a monthly fee of £5 to the credit union to process their collection of rent from their tenants who have an account with them.

Councillor Steve Kirk said: "Some people have never budgeted in their life and now have got to budget to pay for rent. This will take some of that pressure from them."
