'Scampton isn't just about the Dambusters raid'
Tim Downing, chairman of Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire, said: "I'm confident it can be done and I think the county council has to be ambitious with its plans to get if off the ground. I would like to see an emphasis on the Cold War, as Scampton isn't just about the Dambusters raid. With the Vulcan being there, the base played a very significant part in the conflict."
Emma Tatlow, Visit Lincoln Partnership manager, said: "It could bring new people here who are also going to explore the wider area, and people who are already coming here could stay for longer.
"As the plans progress it would be interesting to see what the feasibility study brings up, and we would certainly want to work closely with them."
Simon Beardsley, chief executive at the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, said: "There is still a long way to go and in-depth research and planning needs to be done to ensure the right route is taken. The visitor economy in Lincolnshire is worth £1 billion. Therefore, a plan to develop the visitor economy further through this aviation project is welcome news."
