A number of businesses have already expressed an interest in West Lindsey District Council's apprentices campaign.

They all attended a business lunch dedicated to raising awareness of the scheme.

The benefits for both employees and employers were discussed at the event – as well as funding opportunities.

John Clark is managing director of golf equipment manufacturer Ping Europe Ltd, which has just modernised and expanded its Gainsborough headquarters.

"I think apprenticeships provide an excellent opportunity for local young people and we will certainly be looking into how they can support the company," said Mr Clark.

But it's not just big companies that can benefit.

Richard Waring, from Rand Farm Park, said: "I didn't really know much about apprenticeships before.

"But taking on an apprentice is definitely something I'll be considering."
