Two schools closed in Lincolnshire as ice makes roads treacherous

Two schools in Lincolnshire are closed to pupils today as the cold snap continues.

Lincolnshire County Council has confirmed that Sincil Sports College, in Lincoln, and Skegness Grammar School are shut.

  1. Snow

The school in Skegness remains open to pupils taking exams.   Meanwhile, ice is making driving conditions treacherous with several crashes overnight.   

A van driver has been released from his vehicle at Risegate, Spalding, and there has been another collision in Doddington.

And Gainsborough market has been cancelled.

The Met Office's Amber Warning remains in place and there could be 2 to 5cm of snow in places.

Temperatures will not rise above 2 degrees C.  Tonight there will be a widespread frost as the temperature plummets to minus 5 degrees.
