Schools exclude quarter of special needs children
More than a quarter of children in Lincolnshire with special educational needs were excluded from schools last year, new figures have revealed.
In secondary schools across the county 1,095 children with special needs were either permanently excluded, excluded for a fixed period or for a lunchtime.

Figures reveal more than a quarter of special needs children were excluded from school last year.
In primary schools it was 316 pupils, making 1,411 across both types of school.
And in total there were 2,354 exclusions – 1,837 in secondary schools and 517 in primary.
This higher figure shows that some pupils were excluded several times.
Therese Lord, leader of the Lincolnshire Parent Carer Council which supports thousands of families with children special needs said: "I am not surprised that these figures are so high although I am worried about what the true figures are as we know there are certain schools who practice excluded children unofficially."

“my 4 yr old was excluded for 1.5 days earlier this year, at the point of exclusion other than an IEP there was no other support in place to deal with her behaviour.”
