A music promoter fearing collapse of a regular gig night has been saved by a Lincoln venue.

Regular band night The Bivouac, by city music promoter Steve Hawkins, previously put on shows at The Millers Arms in Lincoln's High Street. It lost the venue last month when bosses announced they were closing the pub down.

The Echo reported at the time that promoter Mr Hawkins decided against signing back up to the Millers Arms despite the pub being re-opened under new management.

He told the Echo if he didn't get a new venue all future gigs would have to be cancelled. Now, Lincoln club Scy – formerly The Cell – in Mint Street has offered a regular slot of Saturday night.

"The Bivouac is back and is creeping ever nearer to the Brayford's location, putting us back into the heart of Lincoln's music scene.

"We are still here and still relevant," said Mr Hawkins (49), who has arranged the first gig for this weekend.

"We have moved back to the city centre with relief and it's all thanks to the Echo because of giving our issue some publicity.

"The manager Richard Wycherley read about our plight in the Echo and contacted us to offer his club. We're over the moon."

Headlining this week's show will be blues trio LOS from Redhill. They will be supported by Lincoln's own progressive rock group The Dark Mantra, indie minimalists Blank and American-inspired guitar rock band Mute.

Over the following month, T4 Mobile band performer Klaus Says Buy The Record will headline supported by Lincoln's Jamie Day, Goodbye Wires, and Sleaford's Scarlett Street.
