Adapted from the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, supposedly based on secret diaries penned by the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Diaries is an action-packed horror directed by Kazakhstan-born film-maker Timur Bekmambetov.

As a boy, Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) learns that his grandfather was slain by a vampire and his beloved mother Nancy (Robin McLeavy) died as a result of a fanged fiend. He swears to kill as many creatures of the night and is mentored by Henry Sturges (Dominic Cooper), who teaches Abraham combat and hunting techniques.

During a trip to New Orleans, Abraham witnesses a slave auction and realises that people are being sold to vampires as food – a heinous practice which propels Abraham on his course as a fervent Abolitionist.
