Severe travel disruption for rail passengers using East Coast Mainline to Skegness
OVERHEAD wire problems in St Neots have resulted in major disruption today for rail passengers travelling on the East Coast Mainline.
The issues have resulted in severe disruption between Peterborough and King's Cross, although the cancellations are also impacting on people travelling north from Grantham, where the Skegness Poacher Line connects with the mainline.
Although rail services between Skegness and Nottingham are operating as normal Network Rail told passengers heading to or from stations south of Peterborough, including London King's Cross, not to travel.
In a tweet to a concerned passenger @NRE-EastCoast said: "It maybe ongoing until tomorrow but its too soon to say for certain. We will tweet out any updates we have on this."

Bus replacement services are in operation for many services south of Peterborough, and warnings are that journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes.
A spokesperson for National Rail said: "A replacement bus service will run between Peterborough and London Kings Cross" for some providers.
Those wishing to travel are being advised to check www.nationalrail.co.uk before doing so.
