Lisa Hardy, prosecuting, said police found the device when they searched Wright's room at the approved premises in Lincoln where he was staying.
Miss Hardy told the court: "It was found to have indecent images on it, cartoon characters from The Simpson Movie, Lisa and Bart Simpson."
Wright admitted he had seen the images and asked them to be sent by Bluetooth to his mobile phone by a friend.
The court heard Wright had been caught with a prohibited mobile phone on two earlier occasions after moving to Lincolnshire from West Sussex where he was made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order.
It banned Wright from using a computer or other internet- enabled device unless it was fitted with a risk management software approved by Lincolnshire Police.
The first incident occurred shortly after Wright moved to Lincoln from the approved premises in Spalding where he had been living.
Miss Hardy said Wright obtained a mobile phone without a battery in Spalding. He intended to sell the device but when he arrived in Lincoln he went to a branch of Carphone Warehouse instead.
Sunil Khanna, mitigating, told the court Wright did not view the footage of The Simpsons in a sexual manner and regarded it as a joke.
He added that no sexual images were found on the other two occasions Wright was caught with a mobile phone.
Wright, of Yarborough Road, Lincoln, pleaded guilty to three charges of breaking a sexual offences order and one charge of breaching a youth rehabilitation order between December 2011 and October this year.
He was sentenced to two years supervision and ordered to complete a 30-day activity program.
Judge Michael Heath told Wright: "I don't want to have to send you to prison because I see the disadvantages of doing so, but if you don't pull your socks up you may give me no option."

“Has anyone noticed that Donald Duck in the Walt Disney cartoons wanders around in front of his young nephews with no trousers on? I think anybody who watches this filth should be gassed.”
