Nominations for the awards are open and firms of all sizes and types are being invited to put their names forward.

Nick Muntz, managing director of Siemens in Lincoln, said businesses in the county had succeeded despite facing a "testing time".

"Some have had to re-think their strategy or marketplace and take difficult decisions in order to deal with such demands," he said.

"As a result, businesses such as these deserve to be recognised for their continuing success against a backdrop of adversity.

"Lincoln has many business strengths and it is due to this that is has managed to buck the trend in terms of positive growth where other regions are still struggling."

Siemens is currently working on a brand new home for its gas turbine servicing operations at Teal Park, off Whisby Road.

It is also completing a raft of major contracts including one of the largest ever to come into Lincoln.

The multi-million pound deal involves a six-year natural gas project in Australia.

It is thought to be worth tens of millions of pounds and follows "bumper" sales figures.

Richard Duxbury, publisher at Lincolnshire Media, said: "It is fantastic that a business such as Siemens is now the headline sponsor of this year's awards.

"The events will celebrate the amazing businesses we have in our region."

People can make nominations for the awards by filling out a registration of interest form and then completing the application pack sent to them by Lincolnshire Media.

Firms have until Saturday, June 30 to register their interest. All applications must then be in by Tuesday, July 31.

A team of experts from respected businesses across the county will form the awards' judging panel.

They will select a shortlist of three entries for each category in August before the winners are announced at the gala dinner.
