He said: “We have been working closely with our new operator when finalising our plans for the new post office area and they are committed to making a success of this new venture.

Signs will be displayed next to the customer lift to let customers know about this alternative and staff members are happy to both direct customers to it and to operate it for them.
“In the unlikely event of the customer lift not being operational, our operator has agreed a one-hour rapid response call-out and a mobile Post Office till would be made available on the ground floor for those customers unable to access the first floor.”
