Skegness Town Council step in with £1,000 help for Christmas lights fun
SKEGNESS Town Council has agreed to give a further £1,000 of support to Christmas celebrations in the town.
The authority already provides a Christmas tree and lights down Lumley Road but has agreed to help support a series of four Christmas Extras events, being put on by the Hildred's Centre and local traders.

The events will take place in the town centre and are hoped to boost trade. Skegness Town Manager, Stefan Krause has been involved with planning the evenings, one of which it is hoped will see children's rides located throughout the town, if funding can be found.
Mr Krause is hopeful of securing a £10,000 Government grant to support the plans and it was felt that grant would be more likely to succeed if additional local financial support was available.

Councillor Steve Kirk said: "This backs exactly what I was saying about this town council trying to develop the economy by putting a contribution forward for the good of the town.
"However we must know from the Town Manager what our £1,000 has done. If it's brought in 100 extra people its not good spending but if its absolutely packed down Lumley Road, I would say it's £1,000 well spent."
Councillor Ken Milner added: "We used to have the children's Christmas party for years and that's gone now. Many years ago, Christmas was fantastic in Skegness, it slowly waned and now I think it's time to up it again."
