Skegness took on Leesbrook in the Midlands Four East (North) and added two points to their league total with a 17-5 victory.

The win fulfilled the club's target of staying in the division for next season.

Skegness made a poor start as they allowed Leesbrook an unconverted try early on. This came from four consecutive penalty infringements from the home side.

Again, Skegness showed immense promise but could not get out the blocks and great breaks from Halliday, Jackson, Haigh and Smith could not be converted into points as dropped balls and wayward passes killed scoring opportunities.

Machin stopped a certain try as the travelling centre looked to score five points. The flanker tackled his man to save his team's earlier indiscretions.

Finally, Cummings crossed the whitewash in the corner from a finger touching pass from Spiers which was straight out the All Blacks' coaching manual.

This made the score 5-5 at the half-time whistle.

Skegness pressed hard at the start of the second half and maintained pressure on the travelling side's line.

Halliday crossed first after good running from Hill. The tall fly-half could not be stopped close to the line and he converted to make the score 12-5.

Captain Jackson then sealed the victory for his team with a good line running off Halliday to score an unconverted try.

Skegness are now sixth in the league and travel to fifth-placed Nottinghamians Saturday.
