Skegness named most deprived coastal town
Skegness has topped a list of the nation’s most impoverished coastal towns, in a report from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The home of the original Butlins holiday camp is among a host of seaside resorts suffering from above-average levels of deprivation.
In the ONS report, resorts were rated across seven indicators of deprivation.
Most towns have above-average levels, but Skegness was two and a half times the national average.
