Skegness woman to help offenders across East Midlands turn their lives around
A SKEGNESS woman has been selected to help offenders across the East Midlands turn their lives around.
East Lindsey District Council employee, Samantha Milson, has taken on the position of Regional Health Champion Coordinator in a new initiative known as the REACH project.

HELPING OTHERS: Samantha Milson has been chosen to take on a new role working with offenders throughout the East Midlands to improve their future prospects.
The Regional Employ-Ability Challenge, is co-ordinated by Leicestershire and Rutland Probation Trust and the Health Support Service, and primarily targets those who are serving less than 12 months in custody and are likely to receive little support when moving back into the local community.
With funding from the European Health Fund, Samantha will deliver workshops for offenders in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland and Northamptonshire.

Sam said: "Helping others to achieve their goals in life is extremely rewarding and I am excited about how this project incorporates helping someone to improve their own health, enabling them to develop their skills, give them the opportunity to help others, increase their own confidence and self efficacy to ultimately gain employment."
Research by The Social Exclusion Unit shows that getting a job is known to reduce the risk of re-offending by as much as 50 per cent.
Sam was chosen for the role because of her excellent work already undertaken with the Probation Service and strong links she has developed with key stakeholders.
Sam has previously worked extremely hard with ex-offenders to improve their health and overall quality if life.
Cultural Team Leader at ELDC, James Brindle, said: "The experience and skills Sam will gain from her new role will be hugely beneficial when she returns to the Health Team in a year's time.
"Sam has worked tirelessly with many people in her current role, improving the health and lives of local people."
