Sleaford Live team appeal for musical and artistic talent to put on 10-day festival
THE Sleaford Live team are appealing for anyone interested in music or the arts to join them and help put Sleaford on the musical map.
The team are currently preparing for their ninth annual event which will take place from Friday, May 3, until Sunday, May 12 at pubs, clubs, churches, theatres, cafes and galleries across Sleaford and the surrounding villages.
The event involves all age groups both as performers and audiences and a programme of the event, which should be out in April, will be available from Sleaford Library, shops and participating venues.
The event began in 2004 when a member of Sleaford Music Promoters or Whatever (SMPoW) suggested that there was so much local musical and artistic talent in the town that it could be gathered together to put on a ten-day festival.

This would take place in the first week of May and could include music, dancing, drama and poetry.
A committed group of Sleaford volunteers co-ordinated all the events and produced a distinctive programme with a musical logo which is now generously sponsored by many local businesses.
The highlight of last year was "Footprints" with WinterWilson's "Songs of the Slea," a stunning example of local talent.
Produced by Kip Winter and Dave Wilson it was a poetic and musical history of West Sleaford written and performed by WinterWilson, Pauline Dobson and others, based on Pauline's original play.
Held in St Denys' Church Hall, this event was a complete sell-out with standing room only, raising £355 for Cancer Relief and £30 for Sleaford Live.
