Sleaford's Cats in Need charity faces £10k funding shortfall
A CHARITY which cares for unwanted cats in and around Sleaford has had to say no to taking on any more after running out of money.
Cats in Need – Sleaford currently cares for 16 cats, many of which are not able to be re-homed due to their age or health problems but are costing the charity’s volunteers up to £1,000 a month in vets bills.

CAT CARER: Ruby Walton has voluntarily cared for unwanted cats through Cats in Need for the last four years.
Ruby Walton, 78, who lives in Heckington and has seven rescued cats and two dogs living with her, said the charity would need around £10,000 to get things back up and running properly.
She said: “It’s not just the general vet bills that we’re having to finance but it’s also the cost of neutering any new cats we take in; food for them and heating for the chalets outside where they can come and go.”

The charity is appealing for anyone who can help with fundraising events for them or give donations.
Mrs Walton explained that even though she is an animal lover and had always kept cats, she hadn’t got the space or finances for any more at the moment.
She said: “A lot of these cats have health problems. One of them was walking with a limp so I took her to a vet who discovered she has no ligaments in her back legs. She’s OK, but she could well need treatment for this in future.”
Another of the cats, Peggy-Sue, is too old to re-home and another, Ruby, has a mouth condition which needs regular treatment.
If anyone can help out with fundraising, donations or volunteering for Cats in Need please call Ruby on 01529 461645.
