Sofa so good for the daytime television host turned novelist
The first book I am going to talk about is Some Day I'll Find You by Richard Madeley. Yes, I do mean the Richard of Richard and Judy fame.
When I picked up the book I did wonder what it would be like. Richard and Judy have done a brilliant job over the years of helping new authors come to prominence and have certainly boosted book sales to a huge degree. However it is all right talking about other people's books but to write one yourself is a different matter.
I was pleasantly surprised, Although some critics have been a bit snooty about it, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it as good holiday read. I won't tell you the plot as it would spoil it for you, but I will say that it is a Second World War Tlove story with a shocking twist at the end. Try it and you will find out!
My next choice is not a new book. In fact it came out in 2006 and has been a big bestseller ever since.

It is The Island by Victoria Hislop. I really enjoyed it first time round but recently read it again for my book group
It is a story about a young girl who travels to Crete to find out about her mother's family and finds out that her great grandmother was a leper.
She visits Spinalonga which was a leper colony right up until 1957. She talks to people there and finds out all about her family history.
It is a great story and I enjoyed finding out more about leprosy, a subject I didn't know much about .One day I intend to visit Spinalonga myself.
Last month, I went to East Kirkby Air Show and met a lovely lady there called Jeanette Smith. She and her husband both work at the Aviation Centre.
Jeanette has written and illustrated a wonderful picture book for young children which introduces them to "Just Jane", the Lancaster at East Kirkby. In the course of the story which is about weasels and badgers it explains how that one day "Just Jane " will fly again. I had never visited The Aviation centre before and I was overwhelmed by how passionate everybody there is about the museum and "Just Jane".
I do thoroughly recommend a visit and do go in the shop where Jeanette's book and many others are on sale.
