The 21 year-old also put in a time of 2:06.36 in the 200m individual medley, which is her best time of the new season and pushes her from fifth to fourth in this year’s world rankings. It’s also an English record for this event.
Despite also setting personal bests in in the 100m and 200m breastroke events with times of 1:06.36 and 2:23.17, she was unable to earn a gold medal.
Allen is among 11 swimmers in the GB team, which included the likes of Michael Jamieson, Craig McNally and Jazmine Carlin.
The Great Britain head coach Bill Furniss is keen to see the team come back with medals.
“We picked athletes that we feel can deliver medals either today, or in the near future,” said Furniss.
“We want to see our leading swimmers competing more regularly.
“Racing regularly is something we will continue next year during the long-course season.
“We will be racing at events between January and March, focusing on our trials in April and then competition will pick up again as we use the month of June to really define our race preparation.”
