A PLASTERER drove at 93mph down the A46 without a licence or insurance, a court in Lincoln heard.

Callum Baxter, 20, of Peverill Street, Hucknall, near Nottingham, appeared before magistrates in the city yesterday for sentencing after being convicted in his absence of three charges on August 28.

Outlining the details of the case, prosecutor Jill Derby said Baxter had been stopped on the evening of April 4 after being seen on the A46 at Swinderby by an officer with a radar gun.

Representing himself, Baxter told the court that he was "sorry".

He said: "I was helping a mate move house and borrowed a van from my dad's company, and I got caught in it."

Baxter was ordered to pay £473 in fines and costs. The six driving penalty points issued for the insurance offence took him to the legal limit of 12, resulting in a six-month driving ban.
