Alison at Pelican Decor is so please to see The South Village, (previously know as the bottom end of the high street) continue to grow.
New, privately owned businesses invest in the area. Beggarz Kanyon have recently opened it's doors next to Pelican Decor, selling Vintage & Collectable Toys to include Star Wars Dr Who and Turtles. Stocking T-Shirts, bags, mugs, sweets and so much more. Oue - Sat 10am -5pm 01522 274563
Across the road, next to Scullion The Barber, we have Vapours, selling the latest in E.Cigaretes, part of a small chain of privatley own shops in Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire.
We were expecting (what was Bouquet) to be a tatoo shop, however that seems to have fallen through as it is now available to rent offering a prime corner and location.

On the other side of Pelican Decor is a fabulous space! The shop is on two levels, enquiries are through Prince, who runs the Local Shop next to Belvoir Lettings! We would all love to see a Bistro / Cafe, but who knows?
I recieved this email today and it gave me a great deal of inspiration to continue with support and promoting the South Village..
Hello Alison, I was so pleased I took the opportunity to drop in to your beautiful shop last week. After my summer break with my three children at home I was in need of a little inspiration to kickstart the creative juices and I certainly got more than I bargained for. Pelican Decor is gorgeous! And a haven for any budding interior designer / maker like myself.
Thank you also for your welcoming chat. I am a resident of 'The South Village' and for years have thought about downhill's potential to become a thriving neighbourhood - one that is popular with professionals and families that perhaps aspire to uphill living but who can get more house for their pound here and enjoy a less pretentious, yet trendy vibe and lifestyle. And so I was buzzing when I left your shop - completely inspired and excited to hear that you share the same enthusiasm and it sounds like similar visions for 'The South Village '. Incidentally I heard it referred to as that twice last week :) Having just embarked on a new career in Interior Design, and with a love of mixing old and new, coupled with a passion for reviving and re imagining much loved furniture pieces and accessories I was so excited to see your shop open on the High Street. I also see potential here for more specialist salvage yard and antique dealers, and perhaps some independent fabric and wallpaper shops and like you say that trendy bistro / coffee shop is a must. The grouping of a mix of similar and complementing independent shops within close proximity seems to be the recipe for increasing footfall and marketplace. If everyone supports each other and shares your positivity and spirit then surely the revival for this end of town is just around the corner!
