Stamford centre draws attention of exhibiting county artists
A renowned local art group has announced the venue for its Winter Exhibition which will feature diverse work selected from more than 140 members.
The Lincolnshire Artists' Society chairman Leszek Dabrowski described his delight at being invited to exhibit at the Stamford Arts Centre.
The society, which has a wide membership of established artists from across the region and neighbouring counties, regularly holds exhibitions in Lincolnshire and elsewhere, but has not done so in Stamford for some years.
The group, which was founded in 1906, currently has more than 140 members working in a range of media and a wide variety of styles – such as Lincoln-based Peter Moss who is a ceramic artist and fine artist Phil Bowman who runs Gallery At St Martins.
Many of the talents of these members which will be showcased at the Winter Exhibition.
Chairman Leszek Dabrowski says: "I know our members really appreciate the opportunity to exhibit at this popular venue.
"I am delighted that we have the chance to show the people of Stamford the range and quality of the work of our members.
"We have a wide membership across the county and in the immediate neighbouring counties, but we are always interested in hearing from talented new artists who are interested in joining us," says Leszek, a Poland-born painter who studied at Liverpool College of Art and has since exhibited all over Britain and abroad.
The Society, which started life as the Lincoln Drawing Club more than 105 years ago, aims to promote among its members high standards of achievement in drawing, painting, sculpture, crafts, architecture and visual arts. It holds regular exhibitions as well as lectures and workshops.
The Lincolnshire Artists' Society Winter exhibition will be held in the Gallery at the Stamford Arts Centre, 27 St Mary's Street, Stamford from December 10 to January 3, 2013. Opening hours are 9.30am -9pm, Monday to Saturday, and admission is free.
