VOLUNTEERS from across East Lindsey have been honoured for their contribution to serving the community.

The Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service has celebrated the achievements of individuals and voluntary groups.

The recipients included Louth Police Cadets who regularly attend public events and shows and raise money for local charities and the Neighbourhood Management Trusthorpe Community Garden working party who have worked tirelessly to transform an unused piece of land into a community garden.

Ladey Adey, Lincolnshire CVS's chief executive said: "Lincolnshire CVS's Voluntary Sector recognition awards are such a wonderful way of celebrating the extensive and varied voluntary activity that takes place across Lincolnshire.

Other groups included the Vision Foundation who help give publicity to community groups by taking photos at events for no charge and the Hope Volunteer Group where members of Witham Lodge, the Salvation Army Hostel in Skegness, volunteer to help other established community groups.

Individual honours included Mary Walker who has long term health conditions, who is now a volunteer walk leader with the Walk 'n' Natter health walk scheme in East Lindsey. Ian Wild was also honoured for the hours he has given to litter picking, painting and mending a boat in the Pleasure Gardens in Sutton-on-Sea.

Other recipients included Serinna Storey; Mablethorpe, Trusthorpe and Sutton-on-Sea Youth Forum; Neighbourhood Management Sutton-on-Sea Garden Forum; Welcome on Wednesday; Trinity Centre Lunch Groups; Neighbourhood Management Mablethorpe Residents Forum; Shirley D'oyley and John Monk.
