Starting line confirmed for Spires and Steeples challenge
THE starting line for this year’s Spires and Steeples challenge has now been confirmed to be Lincoln Castle (for the 26 mile run/walk) and Metheringham Prince’s Street Playing Field (for the 13 mile run/walk) finishing at The National Centre for Craft and Design in Sleaford.
Following feedback from last year, a timing clock will be provided at the finish line by Toonie Express Adventure Racing Club.
Event organisers stress that this is purely for participants to measure their performance and should not be regarded as a race – all ages (16+) and abilities are welcome to take part.
We are still seeking volunteer support for the challenge, so if you think you can spare some time and maybe help out by being a marshal along the route or even hand out water at a checkpoint, please let the organisers know by calling 01522 870273 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the past the challenge has received a lot of support from volunteers and local groups/clubs which is imperative for the event to run smoothly, without them the event just wouldn’t happen.
This year’s Challenge sponsors, Lincolnshire Co-operative, will also be looking to support the Challenge through their staff volunteering scheme as well as a monetary donation which will go towards the First Aid cover through St John Ambulance during the event. Lincolnshire Co-op will also be providing water for all of the 5 checkpoints along the route.
Secure your place at this year’s challenge by contacting Donna Lill on 01522 870273 or e-mail EventsOfficer@LITC.org.uk. Entries cost £15 per person or £18 on the day.
