Help could be at hand for people struggling to save up for a new gadget, a treat for the kids or even a holiday.

Smokers in Lincolnshire are being asked to 'swap fags for swag' as part of events for No Smoking Day this year. Anyone who manages to stop smoking for four weeks in March can enter into a free prize draw, and an event in Lincoln will show just what can be bought for the money you can save by quitting smoking.

Ros Watson, Co-ordinator for Smokefree Lincs Alliance, explained, "On Saturday 9 March we are holding an event in City Square where we will show you what you could afford to buy if you cut down or stop smoking entirely. If you stop smoking for just a week you could have enough money for a family trip to the cinema. Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health, and the financial incentives make it even more worthwhile."

As well as displays and information from Phoenix Stop Smoking Service and Lincolnshire Smoke Free Homes,  Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue will be on hand with a fire engine and fire fighters to help raise awareness the damage caused by careless use of smoking.
