Local support has come in many forms including sponsorship from Lincolnshire Co-op, Tesco, Ringrose Law, The Blakemore Foundation and Ray Butler Ltd – some employees from these businesses will be participating in the challenge and handing out rewards for those who pass over the finish line.

Fiona Purnell from Radiance Holistic Therapy will also be providing free recovery leg massages to weary participants.

Events officer Donna Lill said: "Thanks to the support of the local community, participants can look forward to an organised day, with the only aspect of the day out of our control being the weather.

"If you are a community or voluntary group who would like to provide refreshments at the finish, please get in touch.

"Previous volunteers will be pledging their vital support once again, as well as some new volunteers coming on board.

"The route, which follows the Arts and Heritage Trail through North Kesteven has five checkpoints manned by volunteers.

A number of marshals are placed at various points along the route, each one ensuring a safe and enjoyable event for participants."

There is still time to pledge your support, by volunteering or participating.

The cost of entering the Spires and Steeples Challenge is £12 in advance and £15 on the day – places are limited to 1,000. To enter contact Donna on 07980 696884, EventsOfficer@leisureconnection.co.uk or visit www.spiresandsteeples.com
