SLEAFORD TOWN'S uninterrupted four-match spell at Eslaforde Park this month provides the perfect chance for the club to halt their run of six defeats, according to winger Jamie McGhee.

Following a promising start to the United Counties League Premier Division season with two wins from two matches, Town slipped to in the bottom half of the table and find themselves dumped out of both the FA Cup and FA Vase at the hands of Holbrook Sports.

"It's an important month for us with four home matches," said the Town wideman ahead of tomorrow's clash with St Ives.

"The fans won't want to pay to see their team losing and playing badly, so we need to get this month off on the right foot.

"Playing St Ives will provide us with better opportunity to get wins considering their form.

"It is a boost for us to see them in similar form to ourselves."

Brian Rowland's men have shipped 20 goals on their run of defeats with a reply of just five from their own attackers.

The club's 3-2 weekend Vase loss to Holbrook was followed up by Tuesday's 4-1 defeat to Peterborough North Star.

And McGhee, who scored his first-ever goal for the club against Holbrook, believes it is a lack of cutting edge in the final third and a less than ideal playing surface that has hindered the team.

"I think that in the final third of the pitch we've been running out of ideas," said McGhee.

"We need to be more ruthless in front of goal when we get chances. We don't feel as though we're creating enough at the moment but we're looking to play a lot of football and get the basics right.

"We seem to have turned a corner recently."
