Student bar is closed down and sold off to city university
A STUDENT watering hole has closed down and the building has been bought by the University of Lincoln.
The Library Bar on the University of Lincoln's Brayford Campus has been up for sale since November and has now been sold.

One of the few bars to operate a 24-hour licence, it was owned and run by Kurnia Group which also owns the Cloud Bar in Uphill Lincoln.
The university will not reinstate a bar on the premises.
Instead, it is thought the building will be added to the sprawling campus and used for administration.
Michael Kheng, of Kurnia, said: "We had been looking for a tenant for the bar and then the university decided they wanted more room and so purchased it from us.
"We'll be taking out all the fixtures and fittings in the next couple of weeks."
In August, the Library Bar won a regional award and was shortlisted for the national title of Best Entertainment Pub.
It was heralded by judges as an outstanding example of entertainment done the right way, offering film nights, karaoke, live bands, open mic nights and Wii games.

“As a recent mature graduate of the University of Lincoln, I object to the comment by Karl. He clearly knows nothing of students and their lives so it's a pity he commented on this sale. The University makes strenuous efforts to liaise with "the city" so hope Karl will be prepared to open his mind some day.”

“Thats bad news...that was one of the few places open when the night clubs were shut and was a good bar in it's own right.Aside from that lincoln needs to realise that not everything is about the university and the snotty little students that inhabit it thinking theyre all going to change the world.”

“We've got a pretty decent subsidised bar down here if you guys feel the need . No pun intended.”

“If it was so good why were they selling it? It doesn't make sense unless it just came down to someone making lots of ££££££££ notes.”
