We own a High Street independant restaurant which is now ranked in the top 5 restaurants out of 800+ on trip advisor. Yet we still see the chain restaurants being used by local people. and ignoring the independants. As an independant I would consider our prices extremely competitive, all food is freshly cooked and we do not use pre packed meat and our service is personnel. Use us or lose us! please feed back

“With patience stretching to almost five minutes, I was unable to find the list of 800+ restaurants you refer to on tripadvisor.co.uk.

I did, however, search for restaurants in Lincoln and found you second of 172.

If Lincoln really has more than a fifth of all the decent restaurants in UK, and you really are better than Browns Pie Shop, Jews House, the Cheese Society, the Ocean and the Old Bakery (which doesn't even make it into the top 30, while Tiamo and Burton Road chippie both do), then I think word of mouth might get around.

If, though, you do actually get busy, will you have to take on an additional member of staff to fake positive reviews?”

“Didn't even realise you were there, and I work 2 minutes away, maybe a leaflet drop to local businesses would help ?”

“You could check your spelling. 'Independent' and 'personal'.”

“We regularly eat-out in Lincoln and are happy to eat at small independents or the National Chains - it jest depends what mood we are in.
The reason we have never set foot in your restauarant is probably down to a lack of understanding about what you have to offer:
    - The dining area is upstairs and not visible from the street so there is an element of the unknown
    - The entrance is uninviting
    - Information at street level is poorly presented

In short, unless you promote what you have, people will continue to walk past.”
