TWO friends are set to shed their inhibitions to take part in a walking marathon with a difference around the streets of London in aid of charity.

Jean Warth from Butterwick and Skegness-based Mary Saunders will join 15,000 other participants all dressed in decorated bras for the 13th annual Playtex Moonwalk on May 15.

Setting off at 9pm from Hyde Park, the event has previously seen celebrities such as comedian Jennifer Saunders, television presenter Lorraine Kelly and chat show host Paul O'Grady joining in the challenge and organisers hope this year's effort will raise £6million for breast cancer charities.

For their part Jean and Mary, who have been friends for a number of years after first meeting when they were both on the parents and teachers association at Skegness Grammar School, are looking forward to the event and are appealing for sponsorship.

Jean, 56, told the Target: "We have a number of friends who have had breast cancer and have had help or unfortunately died.

"Two in particular had it 10 years ago and are recovering. It's such a worthy cause.

"We also wanted to prove we could still do these things at our ages.

"We have done Seabank Marathon together three times before so we do have some experience of these types of events.

"I did the 13-mile Moonwalk two years ago but this will be my first time doing the full 26.2-mile distance.

"The atmosphere that year was fantastic and I'm sure it will be again this time.

"We are in training and have done a few 10 and eight mile walks already mostly around Skegness but obviously not in costume."
