Boston Swimming Club's members were back in Fenland League action.

The previous league round saw Boston A travel to Cambridge lying in seventh place in the league knowing only a victory would guarantee them a place in the A final.

Harry Dean-Allen got the team off to the perfect start when winning the Boys under-12 100m Individual Medley in a new personal best time.

This set the tone for the rest of the evening as the team achieved a further 16 race wins, setting 21 new personal best times.

After 10 races Boston held a narrow one-point lead. Pippa Wilson stretched this lead with the first of her three race wins in the under-12 50m freestyle, followed by the 50m backstroke and under-11 50m breaststroke all in PB times to be Boston's most successful swimmer of the evening.

Although Amber Nuttman won both of her races (under-13 50m backstroke and breaststroke), Cambridge had built up a four-point cushion at half way.

This was a lead Cambridge never relinquished, although Boston kept up the pressure especially by Becky Pimlott winning the under-10 50m breaststroke and freestyle, Hannah Macleod in winning the under-13 50m butterfly and 100m individual medley, Megan Sargeant under-12 50m butterfly and Chloe Mallett under-10 50m backstroke.

Sam Macleod won both his races in the under-10 50m freestyle and 25m butterfly, breaking the cut-off times in both races when setting PBs as did Jordan Ward in winning the under-11 50m butterfly with Ashley Berg the other boys winners in the under-10 50m breaststroke.

The last race of the night, the eight x 25m freestyle relay saw an exciting race, with Boston snatching victory by just 4/10 of a second over Cambridge.

Although Boston finished second on the night, results elsewhere went in their favour to enable them to snatch the all-important fifth league place to progress to the A-final in October.

Boston B made the trip to Deepings with the aim of trying to improve on their lowly 14th spot.

The comfortably held third place after the first 10 races and their position was never threatened.

Abigail Teague (under-13 50m butterfly) and Lucy Howlett (under-11 50m butterfly) won their races.

These feats were backed up by the rest of the team as they produced a string of high-placed finishes when gaining 14 personal best times.

This impressive result moved the team into 13th place in the league.
