Replacement buses will run on the East Midlands Trains' routes between Nottingham, Newark Castle, Grantham and Lincoln today.
This is because of the continued disruption caused by the goods train derailment on Monday at Carlton in Nottinghamshire.
Engineers are working flat out to replace up to a mile of track which was damaged by the incident and services will be affected today, tomorrow and over the weekend.
But pre-booked tickets for journeys on the line are being accepted on all East Coast and Northern Rail services.
On the roads, there was an early problem at 6.25am this morning in Horncastle town centre, where a broken down lorry at the main traffic lights on the A158 Jubilee Way partially blocked the A153 South Street junction.
The lorry has now been removed, but there will be congestion in Lincoln and other county towns and villages caused by roadworks.
Monks Road, Wragby Road, Newark Road and Brant Road all have restrictions caused by temporary traffic lights or road closures.
And there are still delays caused by work at Welbourn, Heckington, South Elkington, Leadenham, Grantham town centre and Spalding.
