High notes, spotlights and dance steps take centre stage in this weeks Wonderful World of Knowledge book by Disney - Dance, Drama and Music, available with your Lincolnshire Echo.

Everything is discussed in the book, from brass bands to rock and Shakespearean special effects to the Beijing Opera.

Lively pictures mean each page is engaging and educational, giving children an insight into the world of performing arts.

Lincoln-based performing arts teacher Sam Smith, who runs StarStruck performing arts for children between six and 16, said: "It is always nice for the children to get a bit of background from where dance comes from and get some more knowledge about what they are doing.

"One problem is that sometimes the books they are given are on a level they don't understand but I think something like this would really get children interested in performing arts."

Jazz, classical and pop music all have chapters dedicated to them, along with an explanation of their roots set out in easy to understand blocks of text.

Dance, Drama and Music is the 18th book in Disney's Wonderful World of Knowledge series.

To get hold of your copy of Dance, Drama and Music, pick up a copy of tomorrow's Echo, or if you miss it you can use the catchup tokens available for the rest of the week.

Next Tuesday look out for the 19th Wonderful World of Knowledge book, Famous People.
