He said: "James has been the driving force behind the Kinema ever since taking it over in 1978, and it is due to his effort and determination that the Kinema has continued to do so well, with the opening of the second auditorium and the recent move to digital projection.
"All we have ever tried to do is put on the best show possible for the paying public. We are delighted that the hard work of all the staff here has been recognised with this award."
The award was given to The Kinema following a visit by several members of the CTC.
One committee member said: "Like many independent cinemas they rely on manager/projectionists and projectionists to put on a show – a real team effort by people passionate about cinema. They are dedicated people flying the flag."
Another committee member said of the Kinema staff: "They are a very dedicated team, and it is a very nice place to be. It is because of this dedication and attention to detail and their belief that good projection can make a difference, that the Cinema Technology Committee is proud to present the Projection Team of the Year 2012 to The Kinema in the Woods, Woodhall Spa."
